Nature Without Boundaries: Writing Prose Poems

Eureka Springs is a haven for breaking forms and is an example of resilience in nature that has inspired many poets and writers. Through poetic forms that surpass boundaries with the practice and sustenance of poetry, we will investigate our own memories in nature, with and without nature. We will find inspiration in stones and messages in natural runes. Cloud spotting, which turns into a haiku or a cryptic taiga. We will discuss the emergence of Hinglish poems and various forms of non-traditional prose poems. We will help each other find our primitive voices through poetic traditions and poets alike.

This workshop will focus on nature writing, eco-writing, and trauma writing through non-Western poetic forms. Utilizing the prompts from the nature around us in Eureka Springs, we will write prose poetry. By incorporating hybridization and experimentation, we will delve into the radical, the focused, and the varied. Recite the eco-workings of the workshop later in the day when our poems have marinated.
