Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow Presents “Cooking with Jana”

We invite you to join the WCDH staff, Jana, Chad, and Michelle, on Zoom for some end of the year holiday cheer as we cook up something sweet and celebrate making it through 2020. The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) is proud to present “Cooking with Jana,” a festive, virtual, holiday fundraiser. Part interactive cooking show, part holiday party, all fun, and brought to you live from the Dairy Hollow kitchen at 6:30 pm CST on Friday, December 11, 2020. The suggested donation for the event is $20, but we greatly appreciate any amount. All registrants for the event will be sent a Zoom link and Jana’s recipe. Please register at https://www.writerscolony.org/events.

Jana Jones is the beloved Chef, Housekeeper, and Groundskeeper at WCDH. Raised in the Czech Republic, Jana brings a European flair to her cooking, which writers-in-residence love. Dairy Hollow alumna Jenny Molberg called her, “a gem.” Every meal she serves is accompanied by one of her amazing desserts. Linzer cookies, one of Jana’s specialties and a traditional Eastern European holiday treat, were chosen by popular vote. They are beautiful heart-shaped cookies, topped with fruit preserves. A second cookie is added on top with a cute little window that exposes the preserves. Finally, they are dusted with powdered sugar. The effect is a classy, tasty cookie, perfect for giving but even better for eating.

Will Morris, who was in residence at Dairy Hollow in September, said, “Jana's fine dining created a great atmosphere for sharing ideas with new friends.” Please join us for a festive gathering to share and celebrate with new friends on December 11, 2020. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to support the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow and the community of ideas and writers we serve, please donate here. Your gift of any amount is greatly appreciated.

Since opening its doors to writers in 2000, the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow has made a lasting impact on the arts and literary community by providing uninterrupted residency time for writers of all genres, including culinary, composers, and artists, without discrimination.
