Safety Upgrades

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) has been working hard to make sure that the buildings and grounds are safe for our writers and staff. We recently requested a safety inspection with the Eureka Springs Fire Marshall and are happy to report that we passed except for a few minor changes required and good suggestions to improve the safety at WCDH. We are currently adding fire extinguishers to all suites and common areas, replacing smoke detectors with combination smoke/CO detectors, and adding GFI electrical outlets in the kitchen. A new WCDH emergency manual has been drafted and will be completed upon review by the Eureka Springs Fire Marshal. The manual will ensure that there are comprehensive plans in place for emergencies, facilitate proper safety training for staff, and schedule regular safety equipment inspections at WCDH.
