About the event

The purpose of the workshop is to allow suppressed aspects of writers' authorial voice to take up space, explore narrative voices and perspectives, and learn new ways to listen to the narrators within.

This is a generative workshop in which participants will explore and experiment with different narrative voices through self-analysis, memory, and sensory exercises.

A'Ja Lyons is a Creative Nonfiction PhD student at Oklahoma State University. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Environment from Iowa State University. A'Ja founded the summer creative writing workshop for Black graduate students, Griot Gang. A'Ja has taught creative writing workshops in the community as well as an Intro to Creative Writing course at Iowa State University.
