About the event
Gotahold Brewing has chosen the Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) as their #TipsforTransformation benefactor during the month of April, which is National Poetry Month. Poetry Happy Hours will be held at 5:30 pm every Thursday in the Beer Garden at Gotahold to benefit the WCDH scholarship fund and celebrate the beauty and art of poetry. On Thursday, April 15, at 5:30 pm award winning poets Geoffrey Brock and Geffrey Davis from Fayetteville will inspire and captivate the audience with their work.
Geoffrey Brock is the author of three books of poems, the editor of The FSG Book of 20th-Century Italian Poetry, and the translator of numerous volumes of poetry and prose from Italian, most recently Last Dream by Giovanni Pascoli and Allegria by Giuseppe Ungaretti. His awards include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Academy of American Poets, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Cullman Center at the New York Public Library. He teaches creative writing and translation in the MFA program at the University of Arkansas, where he founded the Arkansas International.
Geffrey Davis is the author of Night Angler (BOA Editions), winner of the James Laughlin Award, and Revising the Storm (BOA Editions), winner of the A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize. A recipient of fellowships from Bread Loaf, Cave Canem, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Whiting Foundation for his involvement with The Prison Story Project. His work has appeared in New England Review, New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, and Ploughshares. Davis teaches with the University of Arkansas and The Rainier Writing Workshop. He also serves as poetry editor for Iron Horse Literary Review.
WCDH Executive Director, Michelle Hannon, said, “We are honored to be celebrating National Poetry Month as the recipient of Gotahold Brewing’s Thursday #tipsfortransformation. It’s a privilege to be able to share the poetry of such accomplished poets with the Eureka Springs community and visitors. The Writers’ Colony would like to thank Wendy and Dave at Gotahold for their generosity and Geffrey and Geoffrey for their support.”
Gotahold Brewing is located at 408 W. Van Buren in Eureka Springs. Opened in 2020 by Wendy Reese Hartman and Dave Hartman, their mission is to change customers’ perception of beer while inspiring deeper connection, compassion, and positive action in our world. Visit them at https://gotahold.beer.
The WCDH scholarship fund was developed in December 2019 to assist emerging writers and those from marginalized communities who need financial support to benefit from a writing residency at Dairy Hollow. Scholarships are awarded on an as-needed basis depending on availability.
