Dupps Den Writers’ Suite Donations

One of our 20th-anniversary goals is to refresh each of our eight writing suites. Before we shut down in March due to COVID, we transformed Spring Garden, Peach Blossom, Muse 4, and Muse 3 into the Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Diana Rivers, and Marianne Moore suites. We re-opened in May with strict COVID protocols and reduced occupancy, enabling better physical distancing between residents and staff. It also gives us the chance to finish our suite updates without disturbing writers-in-residence or blocking off suites that would otherwise be occupied. This month Muse 1 was transformed into the vibrant, fun Zeek Taylor suite. (Stay tuned, it will be formally announced soon!) The Culinary suite and Muse 2 have been funded and are in the process of becoming the Dragonwagon/Zolotow suite and the Margaret Wise Brown suite.

Dupps Den is the last suite left. It will be a Writers’ Colony community effort, an opportunity for our family of writers to contribute to the 20th-anniversary suite updates in a lasting, visible way. Donors will be recognized on a plaque posted outside the door of the Dupps Den writers’ suite. Our goal is to have the funds for the refresh raised in August and the work completed in September.  WCDH alumna, author, and writing coach Nikki Hanna provided some fantastic input and generously funded the bulk of the list of items for the new suite. We only have $980 to go! Please consider helping us reach our goal.
