How to apply
Demonstrable talent, self-discipline, and achievement are the primary criteria for residency at The Writers' Colony. Because some writers are more able to meet the full cost of stay than others, The Writers' Colony operates on an honor code. Each resident is asked to contribute to the cost of a Colony stay to the extent she or he is honestly able. Those who contribute more make it possible for those who cannot contribute as much to have this gift of supported time. Please note the following points before you apply:
- The 2010 season will run from March 15 - December 10.
- Writers wishing to apply must be age 21 or over.
- Writers accepted for general residency stays of two weeks to three months pay a minimum of $45 - $65 per night, depending on suite and length of stay.
- All writers pay an additional $20 Internet fee as well as one $25 cleaning fee.
- We encourage writers to stay as long as possible. Writer feedback confirms that the longest stays are the most productive stays.

8. Work Sample - Must be included or attached.
Your writing sample must be no more than 10 printed pages. If you submit hardcopy (non-electronic, non-email), PLEASE SEND THREE COPIES of any print material. If appropriate, indicate where the sample initially appeared and in what form (book, article, etc.), as well as date of publication. Please describe the work samples that you are sending.

9. Financial Information
The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, supported by
charitable donations from individuals, Foundations, and residents. Actual costs, per
resident per day, at WCDH, are approximately $175. Dedicated Fellowships cover all costs of a
resident's stay but do not cover costs of transportation to and from Eureka Springs .

10. Community Outreach
During all Fellowships and most three-week or longer residencies at WCDH, writers are asked to contribute an outreach program within our region. This could be visits to schools or colleges, talks to a civic or senior group, or an all-day workshop. It could be a videotaped interview on your genre and your thoughts on writing.
